Yisa Kehinde YUSUF, a Professor of English Language in the Department of English, Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U.), Ile-Ife, Nigeria, since 2003, holds a B.A. degree in English Language and an M.A. degree in English as a Second Language from O.A.U. and a Ph.D (English Language) degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. His areas of research interest include Semantics, Pragmatics, Feminist Linguistics and Proverb Studies. He was a Fulbright Scholar at Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Kentucky, U.S.A., from July 1990 to May 1991 and a Smithsonian Institution Fellow in Washington, D.C. from June to August, 1991. He was the Head, Department of English, from August 2006 to July 2007 and Dean, Faculty of Arts, O.A.U., from August 2007 to July 2011. He is a Founding Member of the African Proverbs and Phraseology Society (AFRICAPPS) and the President of the Society.
