Akin ODEBUNMI has been a Professor of English Linguistics (pragmatics and discourse analysis) in the Department of English, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, since 2013. He holds a B.A. (Ed.) degree in English Language and an M.A. degree in English (Semantics) from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, and a Ph.D (English Language: Pragmatics) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He is interested in Linguistic and Literary Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis, Semantics, Medical Linguistics and Proverb Studies. He was at the University of Freiburg, Germany between 2010 and 2011 as an Alexander von Humboldt Georg Forster Fellowship Awardee. He was the Postgraduate Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan, between 2011 and 2014. He is also a Founding Member of the African Proverbs and Phraseology Society (AFRICAPPS).
