1ST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE AFRICAN PROVERBS AND PHRASEOLOGY SOCIETY (AFRICAPPS)
PROVERBS, IDIOMS AND SOCIETY: AN AFRICAN PERSPECTIVE
CALL FOR PAPERS
Established in 2017 and based in Nigeria, the African Proverbs and Phraseology Society (AFRICAPPS) is a not-for-profit association of scholars worldwide who have an interest in the study of proverbs, idioms and related expressions with the aim of advancing Africa-oriented scholarship and promoting global understanding.
Proverbs, idioms and other phrasemes are generating renewed global interest today, because they are proving consistently to have significant influence in societies across the world. These expressions are demonstrating their vitality in various fields such as education, the arts, religion, business, rhetoric, mass communication, law, the social sciences, medicine and even in science and technology. Specifically, the significance of these categories of language is becoming increasingly evident in issues dealing with pedagogy, linguistics, music, gender, sexuality, health care, poverty, innovation, development, commerce, ethnicity, peace and conflict, migration and international diplomacy, among others.
